Christoph Luger's works need time. Time in their creation, but also time in their contemplation.
His support - the paper - is attached directly to the wall with the help of a stapling machine and then worked on by him: Pencil marks, large and small sweeping brushstrokes, which apply the liquid glue colour to the picture ground, visible injuries caused by the tearing of the paper or just casually resulting from the wet paint, the overpainting and the resulting layers.
Luger's paintings seem to lift a delicate curtain, a curtain that reveals what lies beneath, what has gone before, what has been completed in time.
Christoph Luger's works are delicate, contemporary forms of expansive colour-filled painting. If you get involved, they reveal a multitude of layers and colours, all of which have painted the wall with the deliberate, calm and benevolence of a fresco. An exhibition that draws all its presence from its delicacy.
