Drago Persic. Der Cowboy und die Meise: salon angelika. contemporary art in the Angelika Kauffmann Museum. Schwarzenberg in Bregenzerwald

11 March - 17 April 2022

Every spring, the Angelika Kauffmann Museum opens its doors to contemporary art with the exhibition series 'salon angelika'. The first guest to show his work is the painter Drago Persic, who grew up in Schwarzenberg and Dornbirn.

Drago Persic's paintings are based on precisely staged collages of deconstructed photographs and found footage. They refer to film scenes and are fully orchestrated in their structure - light, objects, actors, perspectives and constellations. Persic's works are documentations of a sculpture in the making and capture the sculptural process through painting. Persic's painting practice concentrates on every single colour pigment down to the smallest detail, which in its entirety appears on the canvas as the most colourful black or the purest blue. The possibility and impossibility of painting and ultimately the visibility of motif and colour represent the challenge to him as an artist, which he takes on with passion.
